JOB TITLE:  ASSISTANT PRINCIPAL

 

GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB

 

The assistant principal serves as a member of the administrative team to develop and implement the total school program, and to share with the principal the leadership responsibility of promoting the educational development of each student at the school.

 

REPORTS TO:  Principal

 

SUPERVISES: School staff, students, and programs as may be designated by the principal

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

 

  1. Assist the principal in the overall administration of the school

 

  1. Assist in the instructional support, observation, and evaluation of staff

 

  1. Assist in the coordination of staff development activities and budget for staff development

 

  1. Serve as curriculum coordinator working with principal and faculty in all areas of curriculum development

 

  1. Assist in the development and implementation of plans for continuous assessment of the present instructional program

 

  1. Work with principal, faculty, guidance, and community in planning and implementing new and innovative programs advocated by research on effective instruction

 

  1. Coordinate curriculum integration

 

  1. Assist in the scheduling of students

 

  1. Assist principal with student management and discipline

 

  1. Assist with planning and incorporation of technology in the instructional program

 

  1. Assist the principal in working with business and civic partnerships

  1. Assist principal, faculty, and district-level staff to develop, implementing, and evaluating grants

 

  1. Assist in promoting positive home/school/community relations

 

  1. Contribute to positive public relations for the school

 

  1. Assist in the implementation of shared decision-making at the school level

 

  1. Assist in the implementation of the District's Five-Year Plan

 

  1. Participate in the district’s curriculum council/meetings

 

  1. Other duties as assigned by the principal to assist in the continued successful operation of the school
